  • Lymington High Street: Explore a selection of independent restaurants, pubs, cafes, and boutique shops, as well as popular chains. The Saturday Charter Market is a must-visit, with a vast array of stalls lining the main street.
  • New Forest National Park (5-minute drive): Immerse yourself in miles of heathland perfect for exploring on foot or bicycle amongst the free-roaming ponies, cows, and donkeys.

Discover Lymington: A Historic Port Town

Lymington, a beautiful Georgian market town on the western banks of the Lymington River, is a treasure trove of history and charm. Once a bustling seaport known for shipbuilding and salt harvesting, it’s now a vibrant sailing hub with three sparkling marinas. Walk the characterful, cobbled streets lined with artisan shops and galleries, or indulge in the town’s array of elegant restaurants and cosy cafes.

Lymington offers a variety of family-friendly activities, from sunset cruises and paddleboarding to harbourside strolls. During sunnier months, the town hosts gala events including the popular Lymington Seafood Festival, a lively July carnival, regattas, and sailing jamborees. Listen to summer jazz in the bandstand gardens before a dip in the town’s historic sea water baths. For wildlife enthusiasts, a short walk to the marshes and lagoons of Keyhaven Nature Reserve is a must.

Lymington has its own railway station with mainline links from London Waterloo to nearby Brockenhurst. Regular bus services connect to Bournemouth and Southampton, and you can also pick up the New Forest tour bus for an open-top safari. If you fancy a change of scenery, a quick channel hop on the car and passenger ferry to the Isle of Wight might be just the ticket.
