Perfectly located for a New Forest getaway, the cottage provides off-road parking for up to three cars and is dog-friendly upon request. Just a 3-minute walk away, you’ll find the picturesque village of Burley, with its shops, pubs, and delightful tearooms. With lovely forest walks directly opposite and New Forest Ponies often grazing right outside the gate, it’s the ideal setting for a family holiday.

The Cottage

A private gravel drive with mature hedges and flowering plants welcomes you to this charming property. Upon entering the front door, you’re greeted by a spacious dining room featuring an oak table and seating for eight. This opens into a well-equipped country kitchen, where a complimentary welcome hamper awaits, complete with local cider, jam, biscuits, and more to give you a taste of the New Forest. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, bread maker, food mixer, dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer. There’s also a breakfast table that seats six, offering a lovely view of the garden.

A door from the kitchen leads to a convenient downstairs cloakroom with WC and basin, while another door takes you into the well-kept back garden, a perfect spot for al fresco dining or relaxing in the sun.

The spacious lounge is a cozy retreat, offering comfy sofas where you can unwind in front of the 50” Smart TV, which includes Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime (guests should provide their own logins). Alternatively, enjoy a good book by the French windows, which overlook the pretty country garden. The outdoor patio area is ideal for enjoying a barbecue or soaking up the sunshine after a day of exploring the forest or nearby beaches.

Upstairs Bedrooms

Upstairs, you’ll find three welcoming bedrooms. Two spacious king-size rooms and a smaller bedroom offer flexibility and comfort for all guests. The recently modernized family bathroom features both a bath and a walk-in shower, ensuring a relaxing experience for everyone.

The master bedroom is located immediately to the right and features a king-size bed, Smart TV, and a bedroom chair for relaxing. A travel cot is available upon request. Next door, the second king-size bedroom also has a TV, full-length mirror, and views of the forest. Both of these rooms feature double oak wardrobes and chests of drawers, offering plenty of storage.

The third bedroom, which overlooks the quaint back garden, is smaller but equally charming, with twin beds (which can be converted into a super-king) and fitted wardrobes. The modern family bathroom, located across the landing, is bright and clean, with a bathtub, walk-in shower, and luxury linens provided for all guests.

Helmsdale has been recently upgraded to a high standard by the current owners, ensuring a comfortable and stylish stay. There’s ample off-road parking for three cars, and the enclosed rear garden is perfect for children and pets, with a picnic bench, bike shed, barbecue, and lawn.

Set in the heart of the picturesque village of Burley, Helmsdale is surrounded by stunning forest walks, and you’re likely to see New Forest Ponies grazing right outside the front gate. Burley is a popular village with local shops, two pubs, and a tearoom offering delicious breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon teas.
